United Kingdom Bath or York?
Posted: Mon September 8, 2008 04:20 AM UTC
I will pay a visit to UK in early October, spend 13 days. Have already planned for London, Edinburgh, Glasgow & Fort William.

The question is, I have 1 extra blank day for York or Bath, I can choose either but not both. Which one is more attractive for an architecture-lover? Besides, If the one has a different style than the other cities we have already seen, it would be more preferable. OR, are there any other suggestions?

thank you who would reply!

Liverpool Hello,
Posted: Thu September 4, 2008 01:36 PM UTC
We will be staying for either 1 or 2 nights in Liverpool, in late October.I would appreciate if you could help me with the following questions.

-Any recommendations for a hotel offering something special from Beatles?
-Best tour to see the most from Beatles? (i already attended Magical Mystery tour and want more)
-Besides the Museum and the Cavern, are there any stores selling souvenirs of the Beatles?
-Best way to go from Liverpool to Stansted Airport?
-I believe it is almost impossible to attend a game of Everton or Liverpool but at least we would like to take a tour at Anfield, what am i supposed to do for that?

Thanks a lot...

Scotland Football in Scotland?
Posted: Thu September 4, 2008 10:00 AM UTC
We are going to Glasgow in the middle of november for a week and are planning to watch as much football as possible. We have never been there before so therefore I would like to know if there will be any problems getting tickets to the games or if it is just to go to the stadium before the game and buy one? We are planning to watch:
Wed 12 nov Celtic-Kilmarnock
Sat 15 nov Rangers-St Mirren
Sun 16 nov Hamilton-Celtic
What is the best way to go to Hamilton?
And whatabout the location of Celtic and Rangers stadiums? Is it ok neighbourhoods or is it a location that you should be careful at night?
Will there be any lower league games at thursday or friday?
All advice is appreciated.
Thanks

London Appropriate Accommodations
Posted: Wed September 3, 2008 01:20 AM UTC
Hello all. I will be taking my parents on a trip to London in October, and my head is about to explode trying to deal with finding an appropriate hotel. There are so many websites. My parents are in their mid 60's and not exactly the picture of physical fitness. I would like to find a centrally located hotel priced somewhere in the vicinity of 100 pounds. Thank you

Cheers,

London Best of London in 3 days
Posted: Tue September 2, 2008 11:32 PM UTC
Hello all,

I'd like to ask you to point the spots/circuits that I should not miss when visiting London for about 3 days. You can give a fast answer (just say the names), then I look for it (Mostly I like to walk in the streets, so, no museums please).

Is there any nice pub/bar near Victoria with live music for a beer in the end of the day ?

Thanks in advance !

London Is Megabus safe? At least marginally comfortable?
Posted: Tue September 2, 2008 06:08 PM UTC
I had the option of taking a Megabus ride and and from London to Newquay---but one of the buses was an overnight trip. Not really interested, but I'd like to know anyway about the safety of Megabus and its overnight runs in case I ever did want to take one. Has anyone tried this? Thanks very much.

ii)Im planning to spend 4 or 5 days in London and 4 days in Paris? Is it sufficient enough to see the places in London and Paris?
iii)I'm planning to get the accomodation in King cross, London and Le Louvre in Paris. Is this two place safe for travel or stay (as i'll be travelling alone).
iv) Any lady who have been travel alone between London and Paris? Is it enjoyable or hard? Any thing that i need to take note?

Edinburgh Places to visit on NYE or New Years day
Posted: Mon September 1, 2008 04:09 PM UTC
Hi there decided to give Hogmanay another crack this year. We came up 2 years ago when it was a washout, ended up in some ropey theme bar called frankenstiens but got to admit I had one hell of a night. Had a nice meal at Jackson om New Years day aswell... cracking place on the royal mile.

Anyway my problem is I think in 2 previous visits to Edinburgh I have exahsted the touristy things to do and the price of them I doubt Ill do them again.

So we will book our hotel for New Years Eve so we can hopefully venture to the street party but any recomendations for somewhere to go on New years day rather than drive straight home. Maybe another town or city close by?? I've also been to Glasgow before and seen most things there.

Any advice would be great.

Gloucestershire House sitting in the Cotswolds
Posted: Mon September 1, 2008 07:32 AM UTC
Have always loved visiting the Cotswolds and now that my husband and I are retired was wondering if there is a possibility of house sitting somewhere in that beautiful area. Was thinking around April to August as a possibility for a period of 3 to 6 weeks. Are there reputable websites in the UK for this sort of thing? We are from Australia so any info at all will be great. Would love to "live like a local" as part of a larger holiday.
Thanks, Norah

United Kingdom The Flying Scotsman
Posted: Sat August 30, 2008 04:59 PM UTC
Hi,

my parents are going overseas next year, and my mum thought it would be a nice treat to take my dad on The Flying Scotsman train from London to Edinburgh. Although I have been looking some stuff up on it, but can't actually tell if it is still running - or maybe if it is something seasonal now?

Can anyone let me know if it is still running, or direct me to a site with more information?

Thank you,

Cassie

London Travel To London City Airport
Posted: Sat August 30, 2008 10:59 AM UTC
Hi All,

I am flying out to Orly, Paris on Friday 19th September. I am getting the oxford tube bus to London, from oxford and it stops at several places;

Hillingdon
Shepherds Bush
Nottinghill Gate
Marcle Arch
Victoria Station

Once at one of the above places (i dont have a clue where they are) I need to get myself to London City Airport.

I will be arriving betwwen 03:50 & 04:50 and am not sure what transport services will be availble at this time.

I need to be at the airport for 06:00 and am on a very tight budget. Would anybodt be able to recomend which stop would be best or more convinient?

And also if anyone would have a rough idea on cost etc.

My dad's friend advised that if i get off at Victoria Station they do an underground to the London City Airport?

I'm not sure id that's correct but need to get all my travel sorted and finalised so i have nothing to worry about.

Many thanks in advance,

Nathan.
